As a designer, my job is to solve problems. I’m not looking to just make something look pretty. As a visual communicator, I want my designs to accompany messages that will have a bigger impact on society. I’d like to use the gifts I’ve been given and the skills I’ve acquired to make our world a better place.
As a young, Christian, liberal female I am curious about many different issues but the issues I am most concerned with right now are healthcare, medical design, equal rights and governmental awareness. There is no one right way to tackle an issue but I am striving to find the most effective solutions to the problems I see. As someone who has lived and breathed communication over the last four years, I know that it is impossible to accomplish these goals alone. I believe that part of my strengths as a designer come from the skills I’ve acquired through my Journalism and Public Relations minors. Unless we can effectively communicate our ideas to others, nothing will happen.
Anyone can have an idea, but executing those ideas are what separate the dreamers from the doers. Like most creatives, I aspire to inspire. When I create work I want it to make people stop, look, think and then act. Let’s be doers in a world full of dreamers.
